There was some chatter Turbin could be in line to start in a backfield that features Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins. The suspension paves the way for the youngsters to play early.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jameis Hit With Three-Game Ban
The NFL suspended quarterback Jameis Winston three games for violating the league's personal-conduct policy.Fantasy Effect
Winston will not appeal. The expectation is grizzly veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will once again be under center for the Bucs to start the season, though Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times believes 28-year-old Ryan Griffin also has a shot to start. It will tough sledding as the Bucs start the season against New Orleans, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
D'onta Foreman Sketchy for Week 1
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported that it "remains up in the air" whether D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) will be ready for Week 1 against the Patriots.Fantasy Effect
Foreman looked to be emerging in his rookie season but has had a long road back after rupturing his Achilles in Week 11. Lamar Miller averaged just 3.7 yards per carry last year but appears locked into a sizable early-season workload at a reasonable ADP.
New Orleans Saints
Terrance West Signs With Saints
Running back Terrance West agreed with the New Orleans Saints.Fantasy Effect
The former Baltimore Raven has a chance to earn some carries during Mark Ingram’s four-game suspension to open the season. He's unlikely to threaten what should be large early-season workloads for Alvin Kamara.
Andrew Luck threw footballs in the Colts' minicamp session.Fantasy Effect
It might not have been deep bombs or quick darts, but it’s a great sign to see Luck actually on the field in the view of outsiders with a football in his hand. Luck has said that he no longer has pain in his surgically-repaired shoulder. The fantasy values of T.Y. Hilton, Jack Doyle and the rest of the Colts' offense hinge on Luck's health.
Cowboys Lock Up Zack Martin
The Dallas Cowboys extended right guard Zack Martin for $84 million over six years, with $40 million guaranteed.Fantasy Effect
One of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, Martin has started every game since being drafted in 2014. Ezekiel Elliott dynasty owners will certainly welcome the news.
New England Patriots
Four-Game Ban for Edelman
The NFL suspended wide receiver Julian Edelman four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy.Fantasy Effect
Edelman’s appeal was denied on July 3rd, so he will indeed miss the first four games of the season. Jordan Matthews is the likeliest slot replacement, while Chris Hogan should see plenty of work as the No. 1 in Edelman's absence.
Browns Extend Duke Johnson
The Cleveland Browns signed running back Duke Johnson to a three-year, $15.6-million extension through 2021. Johnson received a $5-million signing bonus and $7.7 million guaranteed.Fantasy Effect
Considering the Browns drafted Nick Chubb and signed Carlos Hyde in the offseason, the move is a bit surprising. It will be difficult for all three Browns' backs to return value at their lofty ADPs.
Seahawks Sign Brandon Marshall
Wide receiver Brandon Marshall signed with the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract that included just $90,000 guaranteed.Fantasy Effect
Marshall is still not totally healthy, but is expected to be ready for training camp. He’s been plagued by toe, ankle, and hamstring injuries, but offers a veteran presence for a receiving corps that lost Paul Richardson to free agency.
